About North Cascades National Park
North Cascades National Park protects over 500,000 acres of rugged mountain wilderness. Often called the 'American Alps,' the park contains dramatic glacier-clad peaks, alpine meadows, and pristine forests. With more glaciers than any other U.S. park outside Alaska, the landscape is constantly shaped by ice. The park's remoteness and lack of roads keeps visitor numbers low, preserving a true wilderness experience. Grizzly bears and gray wolves still roam these mountains.
