About Great Basin National Park

Great Basin National Park protects a striking diversity of landscapes from the arid Great Basin desert to the glacier-capped summit of 13,063-foot Wheeler Peak. The park is home to ancient bristlecone pines, some over 5,000 years old—among the oldest living things on Earth. Lehman Caves contains rare shield formations and other delicate speleothems. As an International Dark Sky Park, Great Basin offers some of the best stargazing in the continental United States.
