About Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park spans over one million acres in northwestern Montana, where the Rocky Mountains meet the prairies. The park contains over 130 named lakes, more than 1,000 species of plants, and hundreds of species of animals. Its centerpiece is the 50-mile Going-to-the-Sun Road, a National Historic Landmark that crosses the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. The park's namesake glaciers, which numbered 150 in 1850, have receded to just 26 today due to climate change—scientists predict they may disappear entirely by 2030.
