About Voyageurs National Park
Voyageurs National Park preserves a network of interconnected lakes along the Minnesota-Ontario border, accessible primarily by water. Named for the French-Canadian fur traders who paddled these waters in birch bark canoes, the park covers over 218,000 acres of lakes, islands, and boreal forest. It's one of the best places in the lower 48 to view the Northern Lights. In winter, the frozen lakes become highways for snowmobiles and cross-country skiers.
