About Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park protects the natural beauty of the highest rocky headlands along the Atlantic coastline of the United States, an abundance of habitats, and a rich cultural heritage. Located on Maine's Mount Desert Island, Acadia is home to Cadillac Mountain, the tallest peak on the U.S. Atlantic coast. The park's diverse ecosystems include woodlands, wetlands, lakes, and intertidal zones. John D. Rockefeller Jr. donated much of the land and financed the construction of 45 miles of carriage roads, now used for biking and hiking.
