About Channel Islands National Park

Channel Islands National Park encompasses five of the eight California Channel Islands and their surrounding waters. The islands' isolation from the mainland has allowed unique species to evolve, including the tiny Island Fox and the Island Scrub-Jay. The park protects important breeding grounds for seabirds, seals, and sea lions. Underwater, kelp forests support incredible marine biodiversity. Painted Cave on Santa Cruz Island is one of the world's largest sea caves.
