About Wrangell-St. Elias National Park
Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is the largest unit in the National Park System at 13.2 million acres—larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Switzerland combined. The park contains 9 of the 16 highest peaks in the United States, including 18,008-foot Mount St. Elias. The Malaspina Glacier alone is larger than Rhode Island. Despite its immense size, the park sees fewer visitors annually than many parks receive in a single busy day. The historic Kennecott copper mines offer a glimpse into Alaska's industrial past.
